Using a content management system (CMS) for a personal homepage can be difficult. In general, CMS’s are designed for large websites with many users and are chock-full of features, functionality and options. All of these bells and whistles come at a price — complexity.
For a personal website the need is often much different than that of a business. Performing administration is the last thing I’m interested in doing after a long day at the office. For me, the ideal personal website is free (open source), allows quick posting of content, simple administration, an attractive out-of-the-box (OOB) responsive design and the possibility of maybe adding more functionality someday.
Of the free options available , WordPress (WP) appears to fit these requirements the best. We’ll see… what do you prefer?
