I've recently upgraded the Virtual Hardware to v7 on a group of Provisioned Citrix Servers abd we replaced the NIC with VMXNet3.

These servers boot via DHCP / PXE and therefore have dynamic IP addresses.

The VM's update their DNS records using DDNS via the DHCP Client Service.

The DNS Server allows the guest to update their records.

The VM's running with VMXNet3 no longer send DDNS update requests.

I have performed a network trace comparison of the two, and the VMXNET3 systems simply fail to ever send a DDNS update, even with asked to via ipconfig /registerdns

Systems still running the FLEXIBLE network adapter are performing DDNS correctly.

I've confirmed that the VMXNET3 systems are configured perform DDNS per RSOP -> Computer ->Administrative Templates -> Network -> DNS Client

I'm going to rollback to a different Network driver, but I wanted to see if anyone had seen this and just not posted it.

You may have seen a recent report published by Miercom (and sponsored by Citrix) that compares the performance of VMWare View 4 to XenDesktop 4.  As can be expected, there was much contention regarding the results.  Our friend-of-the-industry Brian Madden has done an excellent job of highlighting the good, bad and ugly of both sides of this report.

Regarding the section on Flash Performance, it seems like a fairer test case would be to

compare the performance and user experience for flash remoting.  I

doubt many Citrix customers have fully converted their environment to

leverage Flash redirection, so it would be nice to know how the two

compare in the real world.

  Brian's comment in #4 - Resource Consumption & Scalability has me

very curious to see a side-by-side comparison between the two products

while running a common test case like those used by Project Virtual

Reality Check (www.virtualrealitycheck.net).
